Forty-two & a half

We had quite a fun time last week. On Thursday, the 3rd, we had pack meeting for cub scouts. The boys took part in a Pinewood Derby. They were all given kits and were able to build a car to race. There were a few rules they needed to follow. The car had to be a certain length and width and couldn't be over a certain weight. Other than that, they could make their car look however they wanted. Colby and Gary spent quite a few hours (and no shortage of money) getting Colby's car ready for the race. He had a great time racing his car and ended up taking first place! Here are a few pictures from the exciting evening!

Colby's car is the black one with gold Shelby stripes in the middle. He picked #42 1/2 because that is his favorite number!

They had someone come in with a track specially designed for pinewood derby races. This is the starting ramp.

This is the rest of the track.

Colby was #42 (they forgot the 1/2). He finished first in all his races except one.

These were the finishes for the finals. Colby finished first in all his races in the finals.

I was a very proud mom! Even though I had nothing to do with the car (I never even touched it). The bishopric gave me a hard time on Sunday about my cheering, but I said if no one else wanted to cheer like that for their boy, that wasn't my fault. Cameron was a little embarrassed by my cheering, but I was having a ton of fun. Gary had to leave early to bring the 2 youngest ones home, but we kept him updated with text messages. Problem was, he didn't believe our messages. Thought we were teasing him.

Friday night, we went to a wedding reception for our good friend's daughter, Aerika Larsen. She looked beautiful and her groom was very handsome. We wish them all the best.
